Lostalgia

잃어버린 미래에 대한 향수

Nostalgia may express a longing for an expected future, not a literal past.

Lostalgia names the feeling of having lost the future one expected. Ipsos's 2026 global trends report says that amid uncertainty people may seek feelings such as control and stability rather than a literal return to old objects.

Scrubbing the demo timeline changes the message from 'go back' to 'restore a desired feeling today.' It illustrates a framing choice and does not predict customer response.

Do not portray an era as universally better. Research which needs people actually miss, and promise only what a current offering can deliver.

When to use

Use it to identify the feeling customers want restored before using nostalgic cues.
